Totterdown Children's Community Workshop

Totterdown Children's Workshop LogoThe Totterdown Children's Community Workshop has been providing happy, safe, reliable and low cost childcare for over 30 years. The Afterschool Club collects from Hillcrest Primary School during term time and the Holiday Playscheme welcomes children aged 4 to 12 years from all over Bristol.

Their focus is to provide a wide range of stimulating and creative activities in a safe, fun, imaginative and caring environment.  The children are involved in choosing what they would like to do, ranging from free play, arts & craft, softball, cookery and board games. When the weather is good we visit the local parks for outdoor play. In the holidays TCCW have regular cinema visits and day trips.

Broad Plain RFC

Bedminster’s Own Rugby Club

After many years playing at different sites around the city, Broad Plain RFC have finally settled into a permanent home in a new ground at Bristol South End, off St John’s Lane (near The Brunel pub). There are 3 well drained, level pitches, and a brand new clubhouse with excellent bar and changing facilities

Broad Plain is the only rugby club in the Bedminster/Ashton/Southville/Totterdown area. The club has become heavily involved in the community, developing strong links with several local schools through in-reach rugby coaching, and is always looking for more opportunities to work with schools.  We have a thriving youth section with teams at U7, U9, U12 and U15 level. Kids aged 4-8 play non-contact tag rugby, which is fast and furious, and suitable for both boys and girls. After age 8 they are introduced to contact rugby. The accent is on getting fit, making friends, building confidence, and having fun!

We’re always looking for new recruits, and volunteers to join the coaching staff, so why not come along to training on Sunday mornings (11.00-12.00) and give it a go, or ring Nick (9231937) or Sam (07810 864299) for more information. Click here for a map...

5,000 Attended Cemetery Opening Weekend...

The official re-opening of Arnos Vale cemetery took place over the first May Bank Holiday. A staggering 5,000 people visited the Victorian cemetery to see the results of a £5m restoration project that has transformed the area into a heritage, wildlife, family history and education centre with the help of funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Bristol City Council, English Heritage and others.
The opening included a programme of guided walks, live music, new exhibits, skills demonstrations as well as the opportunity to fully explore the cemetery gardens. Perhaps for some their first time as a lot of families strolled along the pathways.

If you’d like to become a volunteer or to make a donation to keep Arnos Vale in tip top condition, then contact the website: www.arnosvale.org.uk
