First Bus aim to improve reliability of bus routes 1 and 2

First Bus has announced it will put extra buses on the busiest and most delay-hit routes, including routes 1 and 2 serving Totterdown. The ‘Queue Busters’ have been borrowed from other parts of the country and extra drivers recruited.

The 1 travels from Cribbs Causeway, along the Bath Road stopping at Totterdown Bridge, to Stockwood and Broomhill.

The 2 travels from Cribbs Causeway, up the Wells Road through Totterdown, to Stockwood and Broomhill.

First Bus say each route will have dedicated ‘trouble-shooting ambassadors’ on the streets 6.00am – 10.00pm with iPads connected to the Control Centre so they can identify problem hotspots and call up support. There will also be extra supervisors in the control centre aiming to make sure the new system runs smoothly.

The success of the Queue Busters initiative will be reviewed after Christmas to see if lessons learned could be applied in the longer-term.

Totterdown folk who use the 1 and 2 might wish to keep a eye on whether the proposed system helps – and let First Bus know your views.
