Totterdown Sprouting- orchard work day!

We will be working on the small community orchard at the bottom of Park Street on Sunday 15th April starting at 10.30 am. We will be planting fruit trees and bushes as well as edible groundcover plants including some wild strawberries. It would be lovely if you could join us and help, or perhaps enjoy some of the fruit later in the year. Email Hannah at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. October 2011

TRESA committee, members and other local residents have been working to secure a small piece of land on Park Street for use as a community orchard. The Council were also considering using it for development of new housing (and partially erected a fence). We’re happy to report that we’re making good progress and the Council are minded to support our plans. We thank Mark Bailey for his support.

There’s a great deal more thinking and work to be done on this. If you’re interested, come along to the next Sprouting event. We're planning our next work day forSaturday 22nd October between 11 am and 1 pm. The plan is to meet in Totterdown Square (outside Tescos) to tidy up one of the large planters, and then head to a local cafe to discuss the orchard plans and any other ideas people have.

February 2011

We met at 10.00am on the green space on the Wells Road to check on the progress of the trees that were planted late last year. We installed "tree guards" to ensure they have a successful growing season safe from trampling and mowing!

November 2010

We started by planting some trees which we have been given by the woodland trust as part of their community tree pack scheme. Thanks to all who came to help!
