Alongside the rustle of leaves there’s a sense of purpose as I walk around Totterdown; an impression that people are pulling together essential stores for the winter season and a feeling that Christmas really is not far away.
With a rising backlash against unnecessary consumerism and plastic tat, now is a perfect time to support our local businesses and look to buy sustainably where possible. We are incredibly lucky having these independents on our doorstop stocking all manner of store cupboard staples and locally made preserves and sweet treats, soaps, hand spun fleece knits, jewellery and very individual cards, prints and other artworks. The choice is astounding – from Bristol brewed beers to hand sewn reusable sandwich wrappers and shopping bags. Local publisher, Tangent Books, also has a great range of books to suit all ages and tastes.
FRONT ROOM, Totterdown Art Trail, is a great weekend to be out and about, with arty shenanigans aplenty and another ideal opportunity to stock up on exclusive and unique gifts. Or get involved yourself in one of the workshops and create a gift from the heart. Take a well-earned break to enjoy a drink and a tasty treat in one of our fabulous pubs and cafes who are all fantastic in their support of Totterdown’s creative community.
