Bristol City Council previously sold an area of Green space (Salcombe Road, Knowle) and the proceeds were to be spent on green areas in Knowle and Windmill Hill.
TRESA applied for some funds to improve Zone N/Bushy Park (as it is a “green space” that needed some TLC). We were awarded £30K to improve the area and other local groups such as VPAG and Friends of Redcatch Park were also awarded sums. Sadly, shortly afterwards the funding was withdrawn due to council finance problems.
Eventually (after some hard work by Knowle Councillor Gary Hopkins and others) the funding was restored to those who applied so TRESA were able to continue their work. We then presented out plans to the council for estimation.
The cost estimates have recently been returned (Aug 2018) and TRESA have reviewed the quote against the required items and replied back to the council to confirm various items. We hope to soon get details confirmed with the contractor and receive a date for commencement of the works.
So things are slowly moving – we have a work party planned for further gardening and weeding for 22nd September 2018. More details can be provided then as required. Hopefully work will begin in 2019.
