Bristol Women’s Voice are proud to host an International Women’s Day celebration at M Shed on the 4th of March 11am-5pm (registration from 10:30). The day will be full of celebration, workshops, talks, music and more! Our full line up will be announced shortly but we are excited to give you a sneak preview of the day ….
We are very excited to have Breathing Fire Playback Theatre Company back to perform for another year. The group of women will be running an interactive drama workshop ‘Come and Play with Breathing Fire’. Breathing Fire will be performing 12-1pm in Studio 1.
As part of What The Frock! Comedy, Angie Belcher will run a workshop about how to get over the fear of speaking in front of an audience. The workshop guarantees a laugh, but will also be informative for all who chose to come. The workshop will take place 11:40-12:40pm in Studio 2.
Bristol Women’s Commission presents “Who Wants to be a …. ?”, a panel of women in public life in Bristol, led by BWV chair Penny Gane. Hear from Sue Mountstevens about what it is like to be a Police and Crime Commissioner, or Helen Wilde on her experience as a High Sheriff and feminist. Sandra Meadows will talk about being a School and College Governor; Daniella Radice on being a deputy mayor and Ifeoma Fox on the inside story of being a trustee. Could you take on a role in public life? Find out how! The panel will take place in Studios 1 and 2 at 2:15pm.
There will also be opportunities to take part in yoga, empower yourself at a self defence workshop, listen to storytelling, singing, spoken word and many more panel discussions, talks and workshops looking at women in art, culture, leadership and activism. Not to be missed!
We will have a free transport service which will pick women up from their area and drop them back. To make use of this service, please pre-book by emailing intern@bristolwomensvoice.org.uk. Deadline for this is February 24th.
There will also be a free crèche available on the day. There is no need to pre-book this, however you will need to register the child/children with the person in charge upon arrival.
We are asking for a suggested £1 donation this year to attend.
