Totterdown Great Get Together

On Sunday June 18, residents and fans of Totterdown got together for a street party on Park Street to celebrate community life, and all that is great in our little area of the world. We also remembered the life of Jo Cox MP and her legacy: “We have more in common than that which divides us.” We were pleased to have guests including Steve the musician, Colin the postman (who met a few dogs whose bark he knows well) and local resident and mosque representative Zahir. On one of the hottest days of the year, party attendees crowded into the shade of the houses to keep cool, while enjoying the food and dishes that we shared together. The community space and orchard provided welcome green areas for shade and for playing in paddling pools as the heat increased. The Turnip rolling competition – which turns the steepness of the street into an asset – was a hit. Thank you to everyone who came and brought a skill or food to share or who helped to plan and prepare or clear up.
