Dal festival in Totterdown

Restaurants and cafes in Totterdown are taking part in a special ‘Dal Trail’ as part of the British Dal Festival that comes to Bristol from 19th to 25th March. The aim is to promote “the cultural richness, flavour, and affordability of dal as well as its contribution to health, nutrition and environmental sustainability”. The following local businesses are taking part in the dal trail and will be serving a signature dal on their menu:

  • Bocabar – Red lentil, smoked bacon and cauliflower dal with pumpkin seed and lemon crusted hake
  • Desi – Punjabi red lentil dal
  • Thali – dal and roti
  • Windmill Hill City Farm Cafe – tadka dal

The festival will culminate in a grand finale at Paintworks on Sunday March 25th with street food, market stalls, children’s activities, a demonstration kitchen, and music to celebrate the diversity, versatility and deliciousness of dal – book your tickets now!

Dal is any split pulse – lentil, bean or pea – so the festival is celebrating everything from the traditional dals of the Indian subcontinent through to mushy peas! So let us know if you are a Totterdown business and would like us to add your name to the list above.
