BWV is looking for women with an understanding or passion of issues affecting Bristol women and someone who is keen to strive towards women’s equality in the city. We are looking for active, enthusiastic women to join our vibrant team, who are dedicated to equality for all women.
The Role of Trustees
Trustees take ultimate responsibility for the work of Bristol Women’s Voice, and the way in which the charitable organisation manages the funding from donors to achieve its aims. This responsibility focuses on the strategic direction of the organisation, agreeing plans and budgets, and holding the Programme and Campaigns Manager to account for the delivery of the strategy and operational plans.
Trustees are legally responsible for ensuring that the organisation’s operations meet the standards set by the Charity Commission. For more information about the role of the trustee, please see the Charity Commission website.
About the BWV Board
Bristol Women’s Voice is a membership organisation with Trustees elected directly by members. There will be up to 12 trustees with a broad range of skills and experience.

BWV Board of Trustees endeavours to be a diverse Board and encourage applications from candidates who can bring diverse perspectives to the leadership of the organisation
- Attend monthly Board meetings (please note that these are held in Bristol and in person attendance is required for the majority of meetings)
- Reading papers and preparation for meetings
- Responding to correspondence in between meetings
- Board members are invited to volunteer to support BWV projects or pieces of work related to their specific skills and experience

- Statement of maximum 750 words outlining your relevant experience and suitability
- Reference Form
- Equality Monitoring Form (optional)
Your statement of up to 750 words will be displayed on the BWV website as your election pitch.
The closing date for applications will be Friday 9th September 5pm.
Candidates will be assessed for suitability on above criteria and will be informed about entry to election process by Friday 16th September.
Elections will take place from 19th September 9am to Friday 7th October 2016 5pm.
The new Board of Trustees will be announced at our AGM on 13th October.(Please note change of date – this is to allow a longer time for applications onto our Board!)
