TRESA objects to large monopole & cabinets at Bushy Park green space

TRESA objected to a large monopole with cabinets on the pavement at the side of Bushy Park green space, and Bristol City Council agreed. We were pleased to see the application was rejected by the planning committee, but unfortunately the applicant has appealed. TRESA has therefore made the following representation to the appeal process.

APP/Z0116/W/20/3257362

TRESA (The residents association for Totterdown) strongly object to this proposed development and are very disappointed to see it referred to the planning inspectorate.
We believe that adding these phone masts will significantly degrade the appearance of the area and reduce public space on pavements next to a busy junction.
The area already has some mobile phone masts and we would be happy to see these upgraded but we do not wish to have further loss of public space and yet more visual noise right next to a public green space.
TRESA – along with other local residents – has been working to improve this green space and make it a pleasant feature of our local community. We currently have funding secured to improve the planting and make it nice for residents. Adding large cabinets for the phone mast will block a large length of this green space.
We were pleased to see the local authority reject this application and are disappointed that the organisation is taking this to appeal as a matter of course – we urge the Planning Inspectorate to reject this application and discourage these frivolous and vexatious applications.
