The past year has shown us that the big problems we face are connected. Climate change, unemployment, and recovering from the pandemic all demand solutions that shift us away from business as usual.
A key part of building back better from this pandemic is investing to create millions of well-paid, secure and future-proof jobs for anyone who needs one. Green Jobs are a central principle of a Green New Deal.
It doesn’t make sense for people to be unemployed when there is so much work that needs to be done. The solution is clear: the government must create millions of green jobs.
We’re running briefing calls throughout February to explain our plan and give you everything you need to call for Green Jobs in your community.

Our Green Jobs for All report estimates that the government could create 1.2 million green jobs in the next two years, by investing £68 billion.
We know how needed these jobs are. To provide jobs to those who are out of work due to the pandemic, to fix the social care crisis that is becoming more and more acute, to rapidly decarbonise our economy, to guarantee a decent livelihood for anyone currently working in high emission sectors. It’s a no-brainer.
But so far, the government has been dragging its feet. Making bitesize commitments of old money which will barely scratch the surface.
So it’s up to us to make them listen.
We’ve planned two Days of Action – on the 23rd March and 24th of April– to get the attention of MPs.
In March we’ll take action online – telling the stories of the people most affected by unemployment, and who have the most to gain through investment in Green Jobs.
In April (if it’s safe to do so) we’ll take action on the streets, outside MP’s offices and job centres, forming a socially distanced queue for jobs, with CVs in hand.
