On Sunday 21st September 2025, TRESA held its fifth annual apple pressing event in the Community space on Park Street, Totterdown.
Local friend, Richard Jones, brought along his apple scratter and press. Many local people then came along with apples from their gardens and allotments ready to be pulped and pressed into sweet juice.
The “Totterdown Seedling” apple tree in the adjacent orchard had a bumper year with plenty of very large apples, perfect for picking and pressing. Groups of people harvesting the apples and bringing them down the hill to be added to the scratter.
The biggest issue (as always) is having enough bottles to hold all the juice that is made. Fortunately people living locally were able to collect various tubs and containers, whilst others were able to find empty bottles in local recycling bins which could be cleaned and used.
It was another great year – lots of apples pressed by many local people. The weather was great, the apples we plentiful, and the juice tasted amazing. Must have been the wassail earlier in the year that helped!
