In January, TRESA asked the SBLN team at Bristol City Council (BCC) a series of questions, which are reproduced below with the responses.
When will we see the results/report of the recent consultation?
- We are still working on the consultation report and hoping to publish next month.
Who is deciding the ‘agreed solutions’ and on what basis?
- The design team is drafting solutions based on feedback from the consultation. Options will be presented to councillors, with decision making made via the Transport & Connectivity Policy Committee. Once it is approved at BCC committee, for the elements that require external funding, a business case is required to be sent to the Combined Authority to make the funding request. The key elements of the design need to meet Active Travel England (ATE) guidance and ATE have an assurance role on the project.
When and how will we be informed about the agreed solutions?
- We do not yet have an agreed timeline. Officers have been reviewing the feedback which is helping to guide early feasibility work on what could work in each space. This includes activities such as checking topographic surveys, drainage, and carriageway widths etc. Options are being worked on at a high level, using the feedback from consultation. Any announcement of changes to proposals will follow the publication of the consultation report. The consultation report itself is a significant document and is yet to be finalised. Any proposed changes in response to the consultation would follow the publication of the consultation report. We do not currently have a forecast date for when the report will be finalised and published.
It was stated: “Issues can be addressed as they arise ahead of the formal consultation”. What is the process for this?
- We will continue to engage with key stakeholders including TRESA throughout the process. This can include emails, meeting requests and ongoing participation for instance on Totterdown Square where we are proposing a co-design approach.
