Minutes of previous meetings

SA to find and upload slides from the July 2023 public meeting.

There was no meeting in August 2023 due to annual leave.

The September 2023 public meeting was based around a ‘taster’ mosaic workshop and a presentation with details are uploaded on the website.

Directors’ reports

  • Company Secretary. For the AGM we need to sign off the accounts. This will be sent to Companies House with a completed Form 34.
  • Membership Secretary. 112 members and 14 friends. There was a brief discussion about whether to increase the membership fee (currently only £3), which could be an item for discussion at the AGM.
  • Talk of Totterdown. Some delivery routes have been updated. Preparations are underway for the next issue of the Talk of Totterdown for delivery in November (hopefully before the art trail). SA to send an email to members to find an additional hub organiser.
  • Treasurer. Overall account balance is £9,060. £300 has recently been spent on insurance. The funding headings were considered and need updating.

Totterdown Sprouting

  • Gardening group. Bulbs have been purchased online but have not been delivered yet. Self-seeded cherries are available for planting.
  • Community orchard. AS is undertaking a course on running community orchards. More care is needed for Totterdown’s orchard. Mulching and pruning is needed. We could approach the Good Gym. Apple pressing was a good event this year, but attendance was small.

Totterdown Unicorn

Unity was part of the unicorn gathering at Propyard before the fundraising auction The unicorn foal is now in Greenwoods window and will move across to Totterdown Canteen for December 2023 and January 2024. Ideas for other places for Unity to visit are welcomed.

Community mosaic

Workshops are confirmed at ArtPark over the weekend of 13th and 14th January 2024.

Totterdown urban nature reserve

The window posters have been printed and are awaiting a ‘launch’ of the Totterdown nature reserve. Ideas to promote the urban nature reserve are welcome. SA will be making a ‘pitch’ to UWE students to help with a webpage for ‘mapping’ the reserve.

Planning

Mead Street: An application for a non-material amendment (NMA) has been submitted. TRESA has sent a strong objection as the proposed changes are significant and do not constitute an NMA.

Towers at Totterdown Bridge: This development is suffering further delays while there seem to be concerns about whether the work undertaken to date has been appropriately ‘signed off’.

Trees: Applications have been submitted for a number of Tree Protection Orders (TPOs). No acknowledgment has been received. A Freedom of Information request has been submitted.

AGM

This will take place at ArtPark on 14th November 2023. Reports are required from relevant directors. SA proposed a free raffle for members and asked for ideas for prizes e.g. new but unwanted gifts.

RM gave his apologies for the AGM.

A.O.B
