Minutes of the TRESA meeting on 9 April 2024, 7.30pm at Stevens Crescent

Company Secretary
All reporting is up to date. In early May the confirmation statement will be submitted.
Treasurer
Simon has given apologies for this meeting and there was no report. Existing funds are getting low as projects are completed and we need to consider applying for small grants.
Membership
105 members, 11 friends. There was a discussion about whether notify those who pay cash that their membership is due (rather than notifying them when they have not paid). This would prove to be too complicated.
There was discussion about whether the membership fee should be increased. This would require a vote at the AGM. The membership fee is taken as a sign of interest in the work of TRESA rather than to raise funds. We are unclear how easy it would be to change the fee for people who use PayPal, and need to check with Simon.
Ideas for a ‘membership drive’ include a stall in Totterdown Square in June, a front page article including a prominent membership form in the Talk of Totterdown.
Talk of Totterdown
The next deadline for contributions is 3 May, to be published early June. Councillors will have a little longer to submit their column due to local elections. The print run to be confirmed at 2,300 copies.
Projects
Local Heritage
Suzanne to send to Miranda the Historic England document: Local Heritage Listing: Identifying and Conserving Local Heritage. This may help to identify and raise awareness of interesting local buildings in our area. (It also fits in with the local history project, currently focussing on St Lukes Road and St Lukes Crescent.)
Totterdown Community Mosaics
The mosaic celebrating diversity is now installed. A walk to include all the Totterdown community mosaics is in the Bristol WalkFest brochure, to take place on Saturday 11 May, 11am, meeting at Zone A.
Totterdown sprouting
Community Orchard: Pruning session went well; mulching this Saturday; Get Going Trail, 15-16 June when local people will meet and greet visitors.
Street planters: Stanley Hill planter has been removed. Angers Road planter to be removed this Thursday, meet 3pm.
Urban Nature Reserve: the UWE student project is now complete and the students have given us a report with instructions on how to upload the map to the TRESA website. This to be given to Simon to check and upload. TRESA will then relaunch the Nature Reserve and ask people to include their gardens as part of the nature reserve.
Mead Street trees: now have Tree Protection Orders.
Zone A: TACA needs help with wild flower planting on Zone A, Sunday 14 April; WECA pollinators event, 9 June.
Planning
Mead Street: the latest application is still awaiting a decision from the council.
Totterdown Bridge, Boatyard development: We have been told work will resume in the summer.
Totterdown Bridge to Three Lamps: There is a pre-application presentation from developers for a series of towerblocks. TRESA to send comments to the Neighbourhood Planning Network. Bristol Civic Society major sites group have also asked to be consulted at the pre-application stage.

Date of Next Meeting
Tuesday 14 May, Public Meeting. The newly elected councillors will be invited and the main topic will be the results of the local elections, the new committee system, and implications for Totterdown.
