Directors’ reports
Treasurer: TRESA funds are running low and we need to make grant applications to fund future work. Simon asked if directors would encourage people not to pay their membership as a cheque because it is difficult to pay cheques into a Co-op branch. Action: SH and all
Company Secretary: All reporting is up to date.
Membership Secretary: Members are finding it difficult to change their subscription from £3 per year to £5 per year through PayPal. Anne will let members know that the best way to do this is to cancel their membership and renew it. Action: AS
Projects
Talk of Totterdown: The next draft will be ready for proofing and printing soon. Action: CJ
Totterdown Sprouting: Anne is preparing an application to register the community orchard and the community space as a community asset. Anne and Simon to complete the form. Action: AS/SH
Anne is sourcing wood chippings for the orchard pathways from a tree surgeon. Action: AS
An apple tree grafting workshop has been organised for 15th March, with a charge of £10 for the workshop and a ‘Totterdown Seedling’ grafted tree. Triodos Bank to be approached for help with funding. Action: AS
Funding
Suzanne reported that Bristol City Council have given TRESA £200 to cover the costs of being a ‘community connector’ for Section 106’CIL funding. Action: SA
Suzanne has applied to GWR for a grant to support and promote our local train station, and has received an acknowledgement to say the at TRESA will be notified in March. Action: SA
There was a discussion about TRESA application for Section 106/CIL funding and it was agreed that TRESA would make stage 1 applications for: Totterdown Nature Reserve; Totterdown Design Code; a wayfinding signpost and plaques to highlight Totterdown’s green spaces; top-up funding (if needed) to complete St Lukes Road pedestrian crossing. Action: SA
Planning
Temple Island: Legal & General will be coming to the next TRESA public meeting to talk about their proposals for Temple Island. TRESA’s concerns relate to: height and obstructing views of the Totterdown escarpment, problems with access to Temple Island, no plans to improve walking and cycling from Three Lamps junction to Temple Meads, and whether there is a ‘community friendly’ building. L&G have been asked to focus on these issues.
‘Southern Gateway’ at Temple Meads: Issues raised included: it’s main purpose is not as a ‘southern gateway’ but a multi-storey car park to improve public space at the main entrance. Although bus stops for people travelling southwards will be at the southern gateway, buses from south Bristol will not stop anywhere near it and passengers will use the main entrance. Increased numbers of cyclists and pedestrians will be using the current sub-standard shared pavement. People crossing from Mead Street will have to negotiate increased traffic movements including cars turning in and out of the southern gateway, and new bus stops. Suzanne to summarise concerns and submit comments on behalf of TRESA. Action: SA
