Minutes of the TRESA meeting on Tuesday 21st October 2025, 7.30pm at Stevens Crescent

TRESA AGM
The next meeting is the GM on Tuesday 18th November 2025. Most TRESA directors have now registered their details with Companies House and will be standing again at the AGM. Suzanne to email members to ask if anyone would like to stand for election as a Director.
The guest speaker will focus on the co-production of improvements to Totterdown Square. Given that this relates to the South Bristol Liveable Neighbourhood, it may be busy. Attendance will be by free registration on Eventbrite.
South Bristol Liveable Neighbourhood (SBLN)
There was discussion about recent email correspondence between Suzanne and Bristol City Council officers and our local councillor. It was agreed that Suzanne would confirm that TRESA as an organisation is not taking a stance on the SBLN proposals. Our role is to encourage and enable our members and local residents to make their voices heard, and express their concerns. TRESA also wants to promote realistic understanding of the funds available and if there are any constraints on the funding.
Suzanne to ask the Bristol City Council presenters at the AGM for information about the funds available for improvements to Totterdown Square and the likelihood of co-produced ideas being implemented.
Mead Street
It was agreed that TRESA will support the planning application to upgrade the Templegate industrial units.
Funding for storage
There are funds available through the Temple Quarter development. TRESA to apply for storage at the community orchard.
Totterdown signs
Miranda asked if TRESA could apply for funds for ‘Welcome to Totterdown’ signs at key entry points to Totterdown. Sources of funding needed.
Talk of Totterdown
Currently with Doveton for delivery at the end of October/early November before the Art Trail. The deadline for the Spring issue is the first week in February 2026.
Potential Business Improvement District (BID)
There is interest from local businesses. This to be discussed at a TRESA Directors meeting early in 2026.
Membership
135 members and friends. Some members are still paying £3, but the new charges are gradually working through.
Totterdown Sprouting
The Bakehouse has donated bulbs, mainly daffodils for Totterdwn square flowerbeds. Anne has also planted alliums.
Share Bristol, Library of Things
Membership coming up for renewal. It was agreed to let it expire.
Community Orchard
Julian has cut back buddleia that now needs shredding. Suzanne to send an email to members to ask if anyone has a shredder suitable for small branches.
Anne will organise an orchard working party this autumn.
Sadly, Hawthorn trees planted by Anne and Julian have been broken – it is not clear who did it.
The apple pressing event was successful.
The bees are doing well.
The grant application to the Groundwork Trust was unsuccessful.
Moths
Ray Barnet, moth expert, is booked to speak at the TRESA January meeting.
A display of moth photographs is being prepared for Hillcrest School for the arts trail.
The moth trap is now back with Ben Barker.
Company Secretary
Robin thanked directors for registering with Companies House in line with the new requirements.
The accounts need to be approved at the AGM, for submission in February.
Wild Summit 2025
Anne attended as TRESA representative with a free place and found the conference enjoyable and informative. She was struck by a Biodiversity Net Gain report which she has passed on to Miranda.
Any Other Business
A TRESA member has suggested we might want to arrange a showing of “Rave on for The Avon”, an independent documentary film about wild swimmers in Bristol, at the Old Picture House. This to be investigated.
