Tweets from Bristol businessman Stephen Fear suggest that there still may be a central location for Bristol’s arena [Stephen FearVerified account @FearStephen ]. In recent tweets he has indicated:
- The American Investors who are global experts in arena operation & development said clearly that Filton won’t work & that
#BristolArena needs to be in a central location. I will continue to work toward attracting their substantial investment of both expertise & funds to#Bristol -
I do need to take a sabbatical due to a recent serious operation but have put it on hold for now so that I can urgently work with the American investors to work through the options available. It is essential that
#Bristol gets the best arena so will do all I can to achieve that. -
Our
#American#Investors are looking at the whole project in much more detail & at the moment have ruled nothing out except that it doesn’t work unless central. There is a willingness to de-risk#Bristol so it will take a week or two to look at options. -
We agreed that the city centre is the right place for an arena and that as far as our
#American#Investors are concerned it will only work in a central location but that size matters so we are looking at options. I am staying involved to help achieve the best result for#Bristol -
There is a consensus that the Arena does need to be in the city centre but that it probably does need to be bigger than the current design. It is now a matter of working together to achieve both those aims if at all possible. Let’s hope that we can achieve the best for
#Bristol -
I confirm that a positive meeting did take place between myself, major investors from the USA and officers from
@BristolCouncil this morning & that we are considering various options. I remain hopeful that a city centre option can be found which benefits the people of#Bristol
