TRESA has submitted the following points relating to the section of the route between Broadwalk and Bath Bridges:
] To encourage walking – continuous pavements across side junctions.
] To stop rat-running on Three Lamps estate – filters on Highgrove Road and Stanley Hill, to allow access for motor vehicles but stop dangerous and unpleasant rat running.
] To support local businesses – a 24 hour bus lane is NOT appropriate outside the small row of businesses including Totterdown Canteen and The Gents – these businesses do not have back entrances and need front access for deliveries, so must have access outside of busy times.
] Pedestrian crossing times are too long and some of the crossing s (e.g. from Tesco across to Mama Bears nursery involve too many stages. Pedestrians can become impatient, or even wonder if traffic lights are working correctly, and take chances in getting across the road.
] Public realm improvements and transport information – TRESA has outlined an idea for a small ‘mobility station’ on the green at Bushy Park (Zone N) where information about transport options and distances , an electric vehicle charging point, cycle racks etc could be installed to encourage transport methods other than private car use.
] The distance from the last No2 bus-stop in Totterdown and the next at Temple Meads is too long.
] Cycling feels very dangerous at Three Lamps junction where priorities are confusing and it is not clear from which direction motor vehicles may appear.
] Crossing the road as a pedestrian at Three Lamps junction feel dangerous. Again, it is not clear from which direction traffic may come. The lights are so slow for pedestrians that they may be tempted to ‘take a chance’ .
] The walking routes from Three Lamps junction down to Temple Meads feel unsafe. The pavement on the right is too narrow, overgrown with bushes, and shared with people on bikes. The pavement on the left involves disappearing into a small tunnel, which feels unsafe especially in the dark.
