Delays to roadworks around Temple Meads

We are sorry to let you know that the Temple Gate works have been extended because of unforeseen problems on the site.  The scheme is now due to be completed in autumn 2019.

Programme changes

The works have been extended following a series of unexpected discoveries under the road – unrecorded electricity cables and water pipes as well as uncharted cellars under the roundabout and Victoria Street – all requiring major change to the planned programme.

The installation of heat networks, vital to meeting the city’s carbon reduction targets, have also added an extra layer of complexity to the project, making progress slower than expected.

We are sorry for this delay and the continued disruption it will cause. We are doing everything we can to make sure the remaining work is delivered as efficiently as possible.

Further information

New images have been released today showing how the area will look once the works are completed – they can be found atwww.bristoltemplequarter.com/gate.
