TRESA has received the following information about the e-scooter trial.

I’m writing to let you know that today we have launched our 12-month e-scooter trial in Bristol and Bath. With social distancing in place on public transport, we’re accelerating the trial to offer a new, low carbon way for residents and visitors to get around region. Leading e-scooter operator Voi will be operating the scheme and will create more than 60 jobs in the region during the trial.
· 50 e-scooters will be available in Bath and 100 in Bristol and then more will be gradually introduced.
· E-scooters will be available to unlock for £1 and cost 20p per minute. There are also a variety of subscriptions available, as well as discounted passes for students, key workers, and those on low-incomes.
· To ride a Voi e-scooter, a user must have a provisional driving licence.
Safety is a priority for the trial, and our chosen operator, Voi, have put in place safety measures including, driving licence checks, number plates, rider safety training and helmet giveaways to ensure the safe use of the scooters. The West of England Combined Authority and Voi have also worked closely with groups representing vulnerable road users and will continue to do so throughout the trial to address any concerns.
· Privately owned e-scooters remain illegal to use on roads, pavements, parks and any other public areas.
· Only e-scooters that are hired or leased through the West of England’s trial can be used legally on roads, cycle lanes or cycle tracks.
· E-scooters cannot be used on pavements.
· Riders must hold a full or provisional driving licence. Driving licence and identity checks will be required
· Initially, scooters will not exceed 10mph and will be slower in some areas

· All scooters cleaned and disinfected every 24 hours
