Bristol city council has been running two consultations on new policies; rough sleeping and vehicle dwelling encampments. Please make sure you have a say in how those polices are shaped.
We are asking for feedback on our draft policies on how we approach encampments of people sleeping rough and people dwelling in vehicles. We want to make sure we reach as many people as possible before the deadline on Sunday 26 August.
Whilst the consultations are happening simultaneously there are two distinct approaches, recognising that there can be very specific circumstances and needs, and these are often very complex – there can’t be a one size fits all approach.
Our aim for people sleeping rough is to get people off the street as quickly as possible, assess their needs and help provide the necessary support.
Our aim for vehicle dwelling is to ensure a measured approach, demonstrating tolerance whilst also being willing to take action when issues reach an unacceptable level.
