The environment agency has objected to the proposal for a 17-storey tower block at Totterdown Bridge – on the old Esso garage site, Bath Road. TRESA is not against development of the site, but believes the current proposal is of poor design and the developers have not listened to concerns raised at the pre-application stage. “We met with the developer and their consultants back in June 2017 in respect of flood risk issues, at that time we stressed the need for ongoing and meaningful preapplication dialogue on a wide range of issues. The scheme has been significantly revised from the draft proposal shown to us contrary to our advice and without any further engagement with the Environment Agency.”
and
“The River Avon along this stretch is a known flyway for the rare lesser horseshoe bat species. The height of the proposed development will currently have a significant unmitigated impact on the amount of light spill on the River Avon. We will maintain our objection until the applicant has supplied information to demonstrate that the risks posed by the development can be satisfactorily addressed.”TRESA members and friends are encouraged to add any concerns they have to the growing list of objections to this development.
