After the significant thunder and lightning and heavy rain recently, we appear to be headed for a period of calm – although how long that will last is not certain! At least the downpour makes things feel a little fresher and the parched earth across the country will be glad of a refresher.
Heading into Autumn, most of us will be planning on hunkering down in the face of uncertain energy bills, conflict overseas and most likely continued political shapeshifting on the domestic front. Not forgetting the rampaging pace of development across Bristol…
TRESA directors and many residents were totally shocked at the decision to grant planning permission to the proposed development on the former Bart Spices site. There are many concerns at the project being given the go-ahead, not least because the Planning Officer had recommended refusal. As TRESA Chair, Suzanne Audrey, has stated “This undermines confidence in the process for future proposals along Mead Street, and threatens the credibility of the Mead Street Development Brief that was recently developed in consultation with local people and community groups.”
Whilst it’s tempting to think of hibernation as an increasingly attractive option, this season of change can also be a very positive time.
With Totterdown Art Trail 2022 on the horizon, now is a perfect opportunity to vent any frustrations and concerns by turning your hand to creative endeavours. Everyone is invited to join in the fun ahead of the Art Trail weekend (which runs from 18-20 November) and fill the streets with art by creating a Window Display on the theme of ‘Places We Love’.
