Whilst it might not always feel like it, the weather is getting warmer, and waving daffodil heads and lighter evenings are a sign that spring is on its way. Finally!!
We are very lucky to have some fabulous business people in Totterdown, and in our latest issue we take a look at some of the success stories:
- The newly opened Fox and West (fabulous deli, treats and sweet delights, beers and ciders and some great coffee!) is warm and welcoming and a great source of inspiration for seasonal recipes.
- The team behind Totterdown Canteen celebrate 3 years in business – thanks to a lot of hard work and outstanding customer service they are a firm fixture on the Wells Road food trail.
- Fanny Tingle brings a unique flavour to events and parties at Floriography as well as providing outside catering for all sorts of happy occasions. Do get in touch with her if you have something special to celebrate!
I am also glad that our efforts to ‘engage’ with some of those bringing forward developments in the area seems to be paying off. If we want to get the best deal for our community then it is important that we are open to dialogue and provide constructive feedback and adopt a positive attitude to looking at what works best in our area, and potential mitigation measures for areas of particular concern. There will be considerable activity this year, with the new University Campus and other developments around Temple Meads Enterprise Quarter being brought forward. TRESA will debate and formally comment on any proposals put forward and do get in touch with us or come to one of our public meetings if you have any specific concerns about development in the area.
NEXT PUBLIC MEETING: 21 MARCH 2018 meeting will feature a guest speaker, Pat Smith, addressing the topic of ‘Balanced Communities’ in the face of the potential influx of students into the area. Councillor Jon Wellington will also talk about Houses of Multiple Occupation (HMOs) and the council’s proposed Article 4 licensing change. Meeting starts 7.30pm at Totterdown Canteen – members and non-members welcome.
Last, but certainly not least, our regular man in the know for all things wildlife, Dan Flew, has some fascinating information on the topic of cow pats! Exactly what you need to brighten up your day and put a spring in your step – just watch where you put it down!
