Bristol City Council Cycling Ambition Fund (CAF) team has issued the following update on the Victoria Park cycle route:
- ETM are working on Phase 1, being the north section close to St Mary Redcliffe Primary School entrance, and still intend to have it complete (except for lighting) by late April
- ETM will then start work on Phase 2, which will require some of the cross paths to be closed – they have been open up to now
- The Nutgrove Avenue/Hill Avenue access has been kept open whilst Phase 1 works progressed, as ETM have been using the vehicular access from St Luke’s Road. Once Phase 1 is complete, the Nutgrove Avenue access will probably be closed, as this becomes the main site access
- The lighting works will be undertaken in the summer, but should cause minimal disruption
- The works are still on programme to be complete by mid-August
- Whilst there is some diversion route signage, ETM have been instructed to provide a few more. We are having problems with the signs being moved and thrown around nearly every night, and an ETM vehicle was vandalised one night
- We have confirmed with VPAG that the works do not impact on the plans for a proposed wet meadow flower area
