TRESA has received the following information from Bristol Waste about their new approach to street cleaning. We think this sounds like a good idea, and look forward to supporting their efforts to cleaning up our streets.

From the 6th of June, Bristol Waste Company are proud to announce that we are revamping how we deliver our street cleansing services in your locality.
We are moving to the new “Village Approach” which essentially means that there will be five Villages created in Bristol. Each village will have its own Supervisor and Community Monitoring Officer, that will work together on improving the quality of cleanse as well as Engagement in the Village with monitoring carried out of the quality of service.
Our amazing front line crews will be swapping diesel vans for street cleansing barrows. This will embed our team into the local community, more than ever before.
We will have 90 individual barrow beats that each have a dedicated area, there will be caged vans that will look after a number of barrow staff, by checking in with them, replenishing bags and tools and collected swept litter bags, as well as emptying litter bins.
We will be moving from two main street cleansing depots to 11 sub depots across the city, this is so the staff have somewhere to store their barrow and take their breaks etc.
There is a huge carbon reduction by removing 15 vans from the service, which was dear to our hearts in BWC. It is always tricky to reduce carbon and increase quality, however, the team have been very innovative in the new approach.
